Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet visit elementary and middle schools across the country. Conducting research for this adventure series, Wheeler and Hemstreet have traveled to the far corners of the globe. During school visits, the authors tell captivating stories, discuss the writing process, read an excerpt from one of the books, show photos and video from around the world, and explain to students the importance of reading and writing.
When most people hear the word “rainforest” they think of hot, tropical jungles, like in the Amazon. Great Bear Rainforest is in Canada on the British Columbia Coast. […]

The Great Bear Rainforest is one of the last great wildernesses in North America. Located in British Columbia, Canada, the moss-covered forests of the Great Bear are home to some of the world’s most magnificent animals. In these misty forests you’ll find an abundance of wildlife, including bald eagles, moose, wolverines, wolves, black bears, and grizzlies. And if you’re blessed with a bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of one of the most unique creatures on earth, the mythical spirit bear.
Gannon and Wyatt can’t wait to trek into the Great Bear Rainforest in search of the mythical spirit bear, but surviving in this unforgiving wilderness proves more challenging than they could have ever imagined. When members of the expedition go missing, the brothers bravely set out on a search-and-rescue mission. Soon they find themselves lost in a forest teeming with grizzlies, wolves, and mysterious gunmen. Guided by the wisdom of the First Nation people, Gannon and Wyatt uncover a sinister plot and must risk everything to save those who are missing and restore balance to the Great Bear.
