Recently, author Patti Wheeler joined forces with Bess the Book Bus to give away nearly 400 books to children in Dunedin, Florida. Bess the Book Bus is the brainchild of Jennifer Frances, a spirited, lifelong lover of books. Jennifer named the bus in honor of her grandmother, Bess O’Keefe, who taught her the joy of reading. Today Jennifer travels across the country in her mobile library, handing out books to children everywhere she goes.

The Dunedin event was a big hit with the students, some of whom began reading their new books right then and there. You have to admit, there are few things more inspiring than to see a child happily immersed in a book.

This is part of an ongoing campaign between the Youth Exploration Society and the authors of Travels with Gannon & Wyatt, who have teamed up to donate 10,000 books to children across the country.
